CNC machine, also known as (Computer Numerical Control) is a highly developed machine from NC (Numerical Control) machines. The types of CNC machines always have a computer to set up the software used to control the movement of the machine functions. Machining programs will be read at the same time and stored in memory. When machining and the computer gives commands to control the CNC machine.
CNC machines have the ability to perform functions such as line interpolation, arc interpolation, helix faces, parabolic faces and any cubic faces. In simple words, CNC machines can cut metal according to curves as easily as straight lines, even hollow inside the workpiece, and trim extremely precise, sharp and beautiful patterns most eye.
Machines with point-to-point control (such as drilling machines, spot welding machines, boring machines, punching machines, stamping machines, etc.)
Linear controlled machines: these are large and small machines capable of processing in the process of moving along the axes.
Functions of CNC machines
Mini CNC machine tools are designed with many functions, including functions that traditional NC machines will not be able to or difficult to perform accurately. The main functions of today’s CNC machines are:
- Can control type of machine tool
- Has extremely advanced programming and operating features
- Misdiagnosis
- There is error compensation during machining
Advantages of CNC machines
Compared with traditional NC machines, CNC machines have outstanding advantages such as:
Tapes and tape readers are used only once to import programs into computer memory. Thanks to this type of advantage, the reliability of the system is increased because the readout units are often considered the least reliable software components in the traditional NC system.
- Greater flexibility:  This is also considered the most outstanding advantage compared to traditional NC. Thanks to its flexibility, when needed, it is possible to create new control capabilities quite easily and at low cost. The risk of becoming obsolete and losing positions will also be minimized.
- Users can write additional programs:  Users of the machine can write their own specialized programs to supplement the object programs. They are usually subroutines in macro form, stored in the memory of the CNC laser cutting machine, and when needed, they can also be invoked by the workpiece program to perform frequently repeated machining sequences.
- Total production equipment:Â CNC would be preferable to a factory – wide computerized production system.
- Tape editing is possible at the machine:Â Â the CNC machine program can be edited or even optimized (such as cutter path, feed rate and cutting speed) while the tapes are being processed, test run at machine tool.
- Conversion between British and metric Units (international standard):Â Â CNC has the ability to convert Inches prepared on tape into metric units.
Stable quality
If the processing is done manually, the surface condition and size will certainly vary from person to person. If it is made automatically, it can be processed under the same conditions, so there will be no difference in finish depending on the person, and the quality can be stable. This is suitable for mass production machining, and since the processing is done automatically, it also leads to a reduction in defects caused by human error.
