5 Wonderful Activities for Kids during Thanksgiving

These Thanksgiving activities will leave your kids happy and make wonderful memories that you and your family will cherish for a lifetime.

  1. Fall leaf garland: A fall leaf garland is the perfect decoration for your house. And if it’s made by little ones, it’s all the more special. This is an activity that needs some planning and preparation. Take your little ones around the neighborhood and gather some beautiful leaves. Place the leaves in between the pages of a book for a week to ensure they’re well pressed.

Then ask your tiny tots to draw or write messages on the leaves. Then, preserve the leaves by brushing them with Mod Podge on both sides and allow them to dry. Hang the dry leaves on a long length of ribbon and hang your child’s creation in front of your door or over the fireplace.

  • Fall leaf turkey: This is another wonderful activity for kids using dried and pressed leaves. Making a fall leaf turkey is one of the easiest crafts for kids during Thanksgiving. Just cut one large circle from brown felt paper and a smaller circle out of light brown paper. Ask the children to glue the smaller circle on the larger circle. Get them to draw the turkey’s eyes with coloring pens and then glue a tiny bit of leaf as the beak and red waddle. Finally, ask them to glue different fall leaves on the back of the turkey’s body to form the feathers.
  • Thanksgiving coloring pages: An easy way to keep kids busy and entertained for hours on end is to hand them some coloring supplies and coloring pages. Give the kids some Thanksgiving coloring pages with some Thanksgiving words and ask them to color the words and the image. This activity helps kids learn new words while they color to their heart’s content.
  • Candy cornucopia: What could be more exciting for kids than crafting and candy? Crafting a candy cornucopia is one of the best Thanksgiving crafts for kids, which they will thoroughly enjoy. All you need are a paper cone, fringed crepe paper streamers, glue and candy. Glue the fringed crepe paper streamers on the paper cone to make your horn of plenty, and allow it to dry completely. Once it’s dry, fill your cornucopia with candy and display it on the table.
  • Thanksgiving puzzles: Puzzles are a wonderful way to keep kids entertained for hours, while you get your work done. You can choose Thanksgiving-themed jigsaw puzzles, word search puzzles or crossword puzzles and hand them to the kids. As the kids solve these puzzles, they expand their vocabulary and improve their logical thinking and fine motor skills.

Make this Thanksgiving a memorable one for you and your family with these fun activities.
