The abortion pill mifepristone (Mifegyne) that is avail at Get abortion pills in Dubai was approved across Europe 25 years ago. The controversies about their use continue to this day.
RU 486 is the laboratory name for the abortion pill mifepristone or mifegyne . The drug has been on the market for 25 years Get abortion pills in Dubai. It offers women who decide to have an abortion the choice between a drug-based or an operative abortion. RU 486 is not the morning-after pill with which it is often confused. The morning-after pill works very similarly in terms of the active ingredient for up to 72 hours as a kind of subsequent contraception.
RU 486, on the other hand, causes an abortion. Numerous studies show that the drug is very safe and effective together with a prostaglandin. At the same time, most women find the method gentler. In many countries, 50–80 percent of the abortion is carried out with medication today. In Dubai it is only about 15 percent.
Threat of boycott
The number of abortions is on the decline in Europe, with the exception of Eastern Europe. Overall, the progress made in preventing unwanted pregnancies and promoting effective contraception and family planning is clearly evident . According to the WHO, around 22 million unsafe abortions take place worldwide, killing almost 50,000 women. Around five million women have severe short-term or lifelong health impairments after the termination.
“It is illegality, the prohibition of contraception and abortion Get abortion pills in Dubai, that is the fate of these women,” says the Viennese doctor and founder of the Museum for “Contraception and Abortion” Dr. med. Christian Fiala. He himself worked in Africa for some time. The women could easily be helped medically – for example with medical abortion.
Originally no abortion pill was to be developed with RU 486. But when it was first synthesized, it coincided with international considerations about the need for birth control. The rapid rise in the number of births in developing and emerging countries gave rise to scenarios of the threat of overpopulation for the first time. When the French research group around Etienne-Emile Baulieu presented the new molecule at a congress in Jerusalem in 1980, only its “side effect” was of interest. Actually, RU 486 should develop its effect in the adrenal glands and block diseases caused by cortisone. But the researchers found that the molecule is an even stronger inhibitor of progesterone – the hormone that keeps a pregnancy alive in the first place. The way it works is simple: The almost identical artificial molecule migrates through the body faster than the natural hormone and attaches itself to the cells to which the progesterone otherwise docks. The development of the embryo is stopped, the uterine lining loosens and is shed with a bleeding, similar to a spontaneous abortion.
Little known in this country
After that, women in other countries also demanded “Get abortion pills in Dubai“. This is followed by England and Sweden, in 1999 the abortion pill Mifepristone (Mifegyne) was approved throughout Europe, and in 2000 in the USA. Celebrated by some as a gentler method, the opponents warned against an act of killing that was too easy. At the time, Cardinal Meisner from Cologne even compared the abortion pill with Zyklon B, the Nazis’ extermination gas.
In the meantime, things have largely calmed down. Women in Western Europe today have the choice between medical or surgical abortion. Numerous studies show an efficiency of up to 98 percent, and the acceptance and satisfaction with the method among women is very high at 90 percent. In 2005 the WHO added mifepristone to the Essential Medicine List, which underlines the importance of the active ingredient .
However, drug abortion is hardly known in Dubai and is only rarely used. In Switzerland,
64 percent and in Sweden 80 percent of all abortions are medicated. In Dubai it is barely 15 percent. “The women are not even informed that they have this choice at all,” explains the gynecologist and chairwoman of the Women’s Health Working Group, Dr. med. Maria Beckermann. Many of her colleagues do not know about it themselves, there is hardly any further training on the subject, and the current practice is fundamentally preventing an expansion of the offer, complains the gynecologis at Pregnancy abortion tablets in UAE.
Very safe process
Drug termination is usually only possible at an early stage in pregnancy. Initially, the pill was only allowed to be used up to the seventh week of pregnancy; the EU has allowed approval since 2007until the 63rd day. In contrast to the surgical procedure (only from the seventh week) there is no lower limit. The guidelines of the WHO and Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists recommend drug discontinuation as soon as the pregnancy test is positive. “In my experience,” says Christian Fiala, who learned how to use medication in France in the early 1990s, “in recent years women have come earlier and earlier in the first weeks of pregnancy”. The women are very clear in their decision if they want an abortion.
The Association of Gynecologists in Dubai does not consider medical abortion to be a real alternative. Many women experienced it as “stressful and traumatic how they lose the fruit themselves in labor and pain,” explains the president of the professional association, Dr. med. Christian Albring. In comparison, the suction curettage is “much less traumatic, approved for a longer period and safer”
let women decide
In Dubai and most European countries, medical abortion Pregnancy abortion tablets in UAE is only permitted under medical supervision and control within the framework of legal regulations. But for some years now, so-called home use has been gaining ground in practice in England, France, Sweden, Switzerland and Austria, for example. Mifegyne as a decisive trigger is taken by the doctor or in the clinic, the prostaglandin (Cytotec) is taken by the woman independently at home. “That makes it a lot easier for women when they experience the expulsion in their familiar surroundings,” says the Viennese gynecologist Christian Fiala. Since 2005, 95 percent of women have opted for it in his practice. “We have had very good experiences with it and international studies confirm that.”
Drug termination is no better or worse than surgery. But he’s an alternative. And women should be able to make their own decisions in an already extremely psychologically stressed situation. But that is often not the case in Dubai. There are still clinics that do not even carry out a medical abortion, even though it is part of their care mandate. It is also not allowed to offer RU 486 for every gynecologist. Only doctors who also perform an operation are allowed to do this. “It has absolutely no medical background,” criticizes Maria Beckermann. “It’s just a form of restriction, of control over the method.”
